A Ram truck is a guarantee of a hard-working and reliable pick-up, no matter which of the three outstanding models you choose: the Ram 1500, the Ram 2500, or the Ram 3500. But, which Ram is the right choice for you? Here, we will take a look at the similarities and specific benefits of each model to help you find the best fit.

The biggest difference between each of the models is their basic capabilities. The Ram 1500, with its base Legendary 5.7-liter HEMI engine or 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine, puts up powerful numbers for a self-described "light duty" pick-up, boasting 10,620 lbs of max gas towing and 1,880 lbs of max gas payload (you will see an increase when choosing the diesel engine option), but with each rising model, you'll also see a jump in capability.

The Ram 2500 earns a best-in-class max gas towing of 16,320 lbs and a max gas payload of 3,990 lbs, while the Ram 3500's diesel engine tows up to 31,320 lbs and hauls up to 7,390 lbs. All these rankings come from each truck's most basic "Tradesman" trim; both the Ram 2500 and the Ram 3500 offer a choice between a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 engine or a Legendary Heavy-Duty 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine.
